http://www.reigateschoolofballet.com/... Reigate Dance Classes and Theatre Arts Schools Project at the Harlequin Theatre was a real success. Reigate and Redhill's leading Dance school put on a showcase of performing and theatre arts at the Harlequin Theatre, Redhill. The two shows also invited local primary schools to perform at the event to bring together all the local talent in the Reigate and Redhill area. The Schools Initiative Theatre Arts Project was conceived so that schools could perform a choral, dance or musical theatre piece, and get paid for their performances from the proceeds of the show. The Reigate School of Ballet and Commercial Dance and RSB Dance were extremely pleased with the two concerts, and will be adding these performances to their already busy calendar. The dance schools added all their non-syllabus class performances to the rich and diverse concert, including their street dance, school dance clubs and Starlight Musical Theatre.
The project is the first of its kind to be able to offer valuable funds to the arts in local schools. With more and more cuts, the arts are usually the first to suffer. Reigate Dance (RSB Dance), along with Genesis Productions, were very keen to be able to offer this gesture, and if successful, hopefully all participating schools will be able to benefit from the project on an annual basis.
The Reigate School of Ballet & Commercial Dance have always believed in offering dance to all since it began teaching children to dance over 53 years ago. With the area’s most diverse and specialist dance teachers, the school continues to thrive and teach the basics of dance from the ages of 18 months to adult advance level. There is so much good work going on in schools, and these should be appreciated by a wider audience.
