Contemporary dance is a fusion of many different styles to create a unique form, and uses the body in different and imaginative ways to tell a story. The Reigate School of Ballet & Commercial Dance have taught this style for many years and now offers junior and senior classes.
Children love to choreograph movements and relish "alternative" movements, bringing much drama into their performance. RSB recognises that contemporary dance is a mature dance form, but caters for those imaginative younger age groups at junior level classes.
Our new Contemporary promo features older and newer footage of both class and our recent show in Redhill, and highlights the influences from other dance forms such as lyrical ballet, modern, jazz and some commercial dance forms.
Contemporary is popular because it can literally be accompanied by nearly all styles of music. The style lends itself well to GCSE Dance as pupils who have never danced before can contribute and interpret the music through their bodies in imaginative ways.
