RSB dance schools were approached by the Belfry Shopping Centre in Redhill to provide entertainment for celebrate 25 years of the shopping centre opening.
Musical numbers included extracts from Return to the Forbidden Planet, a line-dance routine to add to the party atmosphere of the occasion, a lovely lyrical solo by Evie McCormack (aged 9), and extracts from the musical CATS.
Jo Evans, the principal, was extremely proud of the children, and emphasizes that all the performances are extremely important to the children to improve their stage presence and confidence. Learning technique (which the schools pride themselves in), is extremely important, but you still need performance opportunities to put all the hard work into practice. At the Reigate School of Ballet & Commercial Dance, and its partner school RSB Dance, performing opportunities are in abundance. This year alone the schools have been performing at The Royal Albert Hall, and future dates include the Dorking Halls at Christmas, the Reigate Christmas Lights, dancing with Strictly Come Dancing star Pasha Kovalev at the Harlequin Theatre in March, The Theatre Arts Project at the Harlequin in May, and ending with the schools' huge 6-show main summer show (over 3 days).
