The Reigate School of Ballet & Commercial Dance's theatre dance division, have been busy with their compilation of CATS the Musical. The team at Starlight Performing Arts are extremely proud of the children this term, and they have enjoyed this challenging piece. Our production involved choreography from the original production in which Miss Evans (Principal) was a part of in London's West End. The regular teaching team at Starlight involve 3 teachers with a wealth of West End performing experience, and a musician who was a former Head of Music at teh renowned Arts Educational School in London.
This piece involved all ages from 5 to 13, and one of the few montages that we could include all our Saturday classes. By being part of a big team, the younger children benefit from the exerience of the older pupils, and creates a real family and caring atmosphere within our theatre school.
As a professional dance school, established for over 50 years in the Reigate and Redhill area, RSB Dance and the Reigate School of Ballet & Commercial Dance all very aware that being part of a musical theatre course alone does not prepare pupils for professional theatre work. We are one of the cheapest courses of this kind in Reigate for a reason - we want pupils to further their training with extra dance classes, and many of our pupils do this to ensure a rounded training. For many of our classical trained ballet children, this course has helped in developing the facial and physical performance elements.
By studying dance with musical theatre, our pupils become rounded young professionals.
